Additional lessons for elementary and middle school programs are being/have been developed. The use of these lessons is voluntary.
They
do not replace or substitute for the regular lessons
contained in the elementary and middle school curricula format now
in place. The enhancement lessons are in addition to
the regular curricula based on community need.
- Lessons are obtainable through the State Training Center.
- The
instructional content (enhancement lessons) will be integrated
into DOTs.
- Mandatory
content and instructional techniques for the enhancement lessons
will be required at all future State D.A.R.E. conferences for
current D.A.R.E. officers.
- Enhancement
lessons currently include: Role Modeling, two Bullying lessons
and a Gang lesson.
A significant addition to the elementary curriculum is the "Family Talk" take home letters. These are designed to be used with specific lessons and to encourage conversation in the home regarding drugs. They can be downloaded in the "Officers Only" section of this site.
