Three Forks is a small town of about 2,000 people located at the headwaters of the Missouri River. Currently, I am a sophomore at Three Forks High School, and I am involved in many extra-curricular activities through the school. I am on the cross-country, basketball, and track teams, and I participate in Academic Olympics. I am also the sophomore class President. Outside of school, I am involved in church and community service activities.
I first became involved in D.A.R.E. in third grade when we did a mini D.A.R.E. class. Then, in fifth grade we had the full class. D.A.R.E. has helped me to realize the dangers and risks that come with drugs, alcohol and violence, and because of this, I have decided to commit to a drug, alcohol and violence-free life.
Sometimes in can be difficult with outside pressures from friends and classmates, but this is something I feel strongly about, so I have been able to stay true to my commitment to stay drug, alcohol, and violence-free.
I am extremely excited to be involved with D.A.R.E. again, and I hope that through this experience I can gain knowledge to be a good leader and role model to discourage the use of drugs and violence. Because I live in such a small town with a small high school, I know almost everyone in the high school, so this gives me an advantage as I share what I learn from being involved in this program.
