Hi, my name is Nicole and I’m Maryland’s YAB representative. I like to referee and play soccer at my church, participate in SGA at my school and I love working with D.A.R.E. I’m a freshman at La Plata High School (GO Blue Knights!), and I’m super excited to making our world a drug free place.
I got involved in D.A.R.E. in sixth grade when I went through the D.A.R.E. program. My D.A.R.E. officer in middle school heard about the YAB position and thought that I would love it. I applied in eighth grade and was ecstatic to hear that I had gotten the position.
This will be my first year as a YAB member. When I attended the National Youth conference with all the other YAB members, I was so amazed to see so many people that were just as interested in changing the world as I am. It was so fun getting to know everyone and I wish the weekend went slower.
Just that conference proves that although we may come from different cultures and backgrounds, we all have the same idea: to stop drug abuse.
