D.A.R.E. America:
D.A.R.E. America is a permanently established not-for-profit public foundation with 501(c) (3) status from the IRS. Its purpose is the “developing, funding and implementing of Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs throughout the world.” It has a volunteer Board of Directors, which consists of prominent law enforcement, educational, and business leaders.
D.A.R.E. America as the owner of the D.A.R.E. name and copyright is fixed with the responsibility for providing communications, assistance and coordination to all D.A.R.E. entities and for the establishment of national program guidelines. The primary responsibility for coordinating local D.A.R.E. activities does, however, rest with state entities.
The Regional Director is responsible for liaison with all D.A.R.E. entities with states from their assigned region.
Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc.:
Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc. is the Minnesota agency chartered as a legal affiliate of D.A.R.E. America. Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc. is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization. Chartered state D.A.R.E. agencies are the sole entity authorized to carry out and implement the purposes, objectives, goals, and policies of D.A.R.E. America.
Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc. is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of law enforcement, educational, and business leaders from the state of Minnesota.
The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer and is responsible for the management of all D.A.R.E. programming throughout the state of Minnesota. The Executive Director is responsible to and works under the direction of the Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc. Board of Directors.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension D.A.R.E. Training Center
The Minnesota D.A.R.E. Training Center is responsible for ensuring that training related to the D.A.R.E. curriculum occurs in a manner that reflects the standards of D.A.R.E. America and is in keeping with accepted educational and training practices. The Center receives state legislative funding to coordinate and schedule this training. Training schedules are shared with D.A.R.E. America, Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc., and the Minnesota D.A.R.E. Officers Association. The Center also provides consultation on in-service or conference training related to D.A.R.E.
The Minnesota State D.A.R.E. Training Coordinator is a member of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s staff and serves as the liaison with national, regional, and state D.A.R.E. entities.
Minnesota D.A.R.E. Officer’s Association
The Minnesota D.A.R.E. Officer’s Association Board of Directors is appointed to be a voice of the members at both the state and national level. The Association provides a means to disseminate information.
The President of the Minnesota D.A.R.E. Officer’s Association is invited to sit on the Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc. Board of Directors. This position is expected to advise and provide reports to the Minnesota D.A.R.E., Inc. Board of Directors as well as communicate the information gained to the Association Board of Directors.
The Minnesota D.A.R.E. Officer’s Association Board of Directors will work closely with the BCA D.A.R.E. Training Team. The State Training Coordinator must approve and forward to D.A.R.E. America all training information including state conferences. This information must be forwarded to the State Training Coordinator.
