Lt. Fischer (D.A.R.E. Officer for Lincoln County

During the late fall of 2008 a patrol lieutenant from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for speeding on USH 51. During the stop it was suspected that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. The stop resulted in the female driver being arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence on an intoxicant 3rd offense. A search of the vehicle was conducted and 85gms of Marijuana were located individually wrapped and ready for sale.
The driver was also charged with possession with intent to deliver. The vehicle was seized by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The following spring Sheriff Jaeger was contacted by Lt. Fischer (D.A.R.E. Officer for Lincoln County) and asked to make this vehicle a D.A.R.E. Car. Sheriff Jaeger advised we did not have the funds available but if I could do it for $500 he would be all for it.
Lt. Fischer contacted local businesses in an effort to get the vehicle detailed and road worthy. KB Body (Merrill) agreed to paint the vehicle free of charge, Willies Tire Center (Merrill) donated new tires free of charge, Muffler & Brake Specialist (Merrill) completed a front end alignment free of charge and donated free oil changes for the life of the car, and Auto Trim and Sign (Wausau) did the design and application of the decals at a greatly reduced price.
As a result the new D.A.R.E. car was born and debuted in the Labor Day Parade in September 2009. Along with being brought to the local schools, the car is used for many public appearances to include seasonal parades, area car shows, and any other public interest group that requests it’s appearance.
