DEA Discovers Tainted ‘Killer Cocaine’

Seized 'Killer Cocaine'

Drug Enforcement Administration agents show that 30% of all cocaine confiscated in the United States contains Levamisole – furthermore, health officials are reported saying that most physicians know very little about the potential lethality of the drugs when mixed.

“I would think it would be fair to say the vast majority of doctors in the United States have no idea this is going on,” said Eric Lavonas, assistant director of the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center in Denver, where as much as half of the cocaine is believed to contain levamisole. “You can’t diagnose a disease you’ve never heard of.”

The increase in cocaine cut with Levamisole began back in January of 2008, but has skyrocketed over the last year, possibly due to economic hardship and a decrease of supply in the USA.

“What’s really disturbing about all of the statistics released by the DEA is the co-occurring uptrend in Agranulocytosis cases."

Agranulocytosis is a white blood cell deficiency that keeps people from fighting off infections – this is believed to be a side effect of Levamisole laced cocaine.

“These tainted cocaine deaths are popping up all over the place – even in Mexico and Canada. The general public, as well as all practicing physicians need to be made aware of the symptoms and treatments for Agranulocytosis.”
