18 YEAR OLD BRANDON ARCHER ANNOUNCED AS WINNER OF THE TALENTED DRUG FREE YOUTH COMPETITION IN LOS ANGELES

and Brandon Archer (contest winner)

On August 5, 2009 at the beautiful, state-of-the-art Wavaflow Studios in Los Angeles, Brandon Archer was presented as the winner of the 2009 D.A.R.E. America/Wavaflow Studios Talented Drug Free Youth Competition.

Brandon was selected for this honor based upon an essay citing his reasons for being drug free and a “demo” recording. As the winner of this prestigious award, Brandon will have the invaluable opportunity to record an entire album at the Wavaflow Studio, under the tutelage of renowned music and film producer Wagner Fulco.

The contest, a joint effort between D.A.R.E. America and Wavaflow was conducted to recognize and encourage youth to remain drug free and pursue positive goals in music and the arts.

The presentation ceremony was held at Wavaflow Studios, located in a historic structure near the famous Greek Theatre. During the presentation, Wagner Fulco provided Brandon and his extended family a tour of the facilities and let Brandon do a “mini” taping session.

“Throughout my life, I’ve been known as ‘B.Arch” and with that name I’ve strived to not become a statistic. Some rappers glamorize money, clothes, cars and degrade women, but main focus is to encourage greatness in everyone from all walks of life. In today’s world, my generation has stopped dreaming and I feel like my job is to get them to dream again. I want to be able to touch lives and if not, change negative ways, be able to get through to listeners.” These heartfelt words were part of the essay submitted by Brandon, an aspiring rapper.

Brandon’s essay, drug free lifestyle and talent struck a chord with the contest selection panel, including Wagner Fulco, owner of Wavaflow Studios.

Too often, the public’s attention is focused upon the negative elements within our population. While the majority of our nation’s youth are like Brandon, leading positive and productive lives, they are often overlooked, not receiving the recognition they deserve.

Personally understanding how hard is to make your way in life and the business world while staying on the right path, producer extraordinaire Wagner Fulco unselfishly donated the use of his specially renovated studio (once home of the late, famed Brazilian actress Carmen Miranda), as well as his services to help “B.Arch” produce a full album.

It was important for Fulco to partner with D.A.R.E. because of the organizations commitment to showing young people that having a clear mind and set objectives is the most effective course for achieving success, as he has proven with his own arduous climb to success.

During the ceremony, Francisco Pegueros, D.A.R.E. America’s Executive Director & COO, said, “We are here to honor ‘B.Arch, his family and Wagner Fulco. Brandon has talent, but beyond that, he has developed skills and abilities contributing to his leading a life consistent with the D.A.R.E. message."

Director Pegueros added, "This skill set will serve Brandon well and help him to accomplish his goals. Brandon’s family has obviously provided an environment within which he and his brothers can thrive, having learned to feel confident in not submitting to peer pressure and how to conduct themselves in an admirable manner. Wagner (Fulco) approached D.A.R.E. with the concept for this contest; this project came from his heart.  Wagner wasn’t looking for something for himself, he was looking for a way to help someone else and in so doing convey the message, despite the contrary stereotype, that drug use stifles talent, creativity and success.”
